I thought, why not, lets have an article with other online labs. First, the O'Reilly Labs, because O'Reilly has an XML book that mentions my domain name, and they have the excellent Makezine & Craftzine. http://labs.oreilly.com/ Second, and this goes without saying, google labs: http://labs.google.com And here's one that I'm not familiar with yet: Adobe labs. http://labs.adobe.com |

At the moment, Psycholabs.org is merely a website. I hope at some point in the future to become a full fledged HackerSpace. To get to that point, we need more members... because right now it's just me. Here is a simple outline that I whipped up while thinking about purpose. Purpose Statement. - Provide working space for members. A 'shop floor' edit: In the West Michigan Area. (I'm thinking Zeeland / Holland, but Grand Rapids isn't out of the question, just more difficult for me.)
- need different rooms, possible private rooms? (future)
- electrical benches, see other labs, school, etc.
- Provide basic consumable materials.
- food, paper towels, soda pop, etc.
- Provide basic shop tools.
- mechanical
- lathe, mill, bandsaw, etc.
- electrical
- o-scope, multi-meter, power supply, bread board, etc. etc.
- Provide recreational tools.
- game consoles, TV, etc.
- Social environment.
- sort of goes with recreational tools. Chairs, couch, etc.
- Kitchen Meals, where we go to eat and socialize.
- Material Order Requisition handling ability.
- the idea is to pool hackerspaces resources to enable discount purchacing from wherehouses.
- Educational Resources.
- Methods
- web (.org)
- real life classes in shop
- possible public events
- topics
- electronics
- shop machinery
- computer basics (? for teaching shop floor workers, like Shoreline?)
- Misc functions NOS
- shipping drop point, ups/fedex
- trash dumpster

I was all gung ho about doing math and stuff on here, writing text articles and stuff... so I went looking for sources to study and distill into something usable and try to make it kinda funny to make it stick better. I mean, how hard can it be to make the topic of Place Value funny, right? Heh. Right. So, I went ahead and starting looking. Then I found this guy, and he does it so, so much better than I ever could. He's over at http://videomathtutor.com He makes this stuff look easy; but that's because it is :) The embedded videos are after the break. |

This "article" was written by me in, oh, around 2004 when life was considerably different for me. I've put it here because of it's legacy value. It really doesn't convey any useful information, and feels more like a badly written blog post than anything else. Oh well, here it is anyway. |
